Best practice for entering CDs

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby rjwerning » Mon Nov 20, 2023 6:14 am

I've searched the faq and message board but haven't found a good explanation on how to record CD's. I have one entered that really messes up some of my historical numbers.

Also, is there a way that I can view all of the prices recorded for a specific investment? I have one that is clearly out of whack but don't want to erase all of the historical prices, just find the one that I messed up at some point and remove / correct that one.

Thanks,
Rich

Hi Rich,

For tracking CDs, I'd suggest tracking them like cash. Put the shares equal to the value, and keep the price at 1.

Yes, you can see all your pricing history in the Data Register. In the upper/right, choose "Prices" for the "Data Type". In the Data Register you can sort by any column, just by clicking on that column's header, so you can sort by closing price, to find any prices that aren't at 1 for a cash type investment for example.
Thanks,
Mark
