Email alert error

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Hi Mark,

I am still working to get the email alerts to work. Seems my firewall was blocking application after all of the recent updates.

Once I unblocked Fund Manager and it was able to communicate with the SMTP server, FM threw the following error while testing the Email settings from the "Test" button on the Alert Option window.

"failed to open smtpsend.txt"

Thoughts on what to try next?

Hi Jason,

When sending an SMTP email, FM tries to create this log file. It is stored here:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Fund Manager\smtpsend.txt

Maybe some other program has that file open, or it is marked as read-only, or there is some other permission problem. You can safely go delete that file, and then try again.
