Merger Question

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby mcrews » Thu Aug 20, 2020 10:51 am

Hello,

I have a situation where a portfolio owned Enbridge and Spectra. Enbridge merged with Spectra on 12/18/18 and 178 shares of Spectra were converted to 197 shares of Enbridge plus cash in lieu for the fractional share.

I don't see how the split option works since both are owned and I can't just rename Spectra since Enbridge already exists.

Thanks for any guidance.

Hi Matthew,

You would record a split with a ratio of 197 for 178, and then also the sell transaction for the fractional share. Go into the "Investment Properties..." and change the Name/Symbol/CUSIP. You will have 2 Enbridge investments. If you wanted to merge the 2, you could use the "Transfer Between" wizard after recording the above.
Thanks,
Mark
