WSJ price retrieve issue since change in some URLs

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Hi Mark,

WJS has changed some URLs for indexes pages this week, and many can't be downloaded anymore with the new symbols (URLs).

Just an example:
DJUSVA
old URL part (=old symbol): index/XX/NULL/DJUSVA
new URL part (=new symbol): index/XX/DOW JONES GLOBAL/DYUSVALA -> this doesn't work

Many indexes are concerned : DJUSTC / DJTBAK / DJTFVS / DJUSRE, XIN9, etc...

Another example,
old URL part (=old symbol): index/UK/NULL/UKX
new URL part (=new symbol): index/UK/FTSE UK/UKX

Maybe an issue with the space character(s) introduced in the URLs?

Hi Djobydjoba,

Yes, I see this same issue. It is a problem with the spaces. The spaces must be replaced with:

%20

So, in your example if you use the symbol:

index/XX/DOW%20JONES%20GLOBAL/DYUSVALA

that will work.

I'm not sure all browsers show it this way, but for me, in Chrome it does show the URL with the spaces replaced with %20, so you can just copy/paste the symbol from the URL displayed in the browser:

I see now, thanks.

I use the chromium based browser "Vivaldi". With this browser, it seems %20 are not displayed in the address bar (maybe an option). If the entire URL is copied (with https://), the %20 are then copied and pasted, but if only a part of the URL is copied, spaces are pasted instead of %20, and that is what I had done.

Hello sir,

I cannot retrieve prices for:
https://www.wsj.com/market-data/quotes/KE/XNAI/KCB
https://www.wsj.com/market-data/quotes/KE/XNAI/KNRE

but i can retrieve for:
https://www.wsj.com/market-data/quotes/KE/XNAI/COOP

Where is the difference ?

In all cases I am using just the symbol e.g in the last one COOP.

Let me know please.

regards,

Hi SteveK,

With this server you need to use everything after ".../quotes/" as the symbol. For example, your first one should have a symbol of:

KE/XNAI/KCB

I just test retrieved this symbol, and it is working okay from here. For more details on using this server, see our instructions.
Thanks,
Mark
