Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby kuteguy » Wed Mar 07, 2018 4:17 am

Hi,

I am evaluating the pro version of the product. However, none of my funds are being found in the various databases that Fund Manager connects to (I tried about 5 of them).

As my portfolio spans several countries and currencies (shares, ETFs, UTs, Managed funds, and cash) I need to make sure all my holdings can have data automatically updated, analysed, stop loss alerts, even technical analysis. I do not want to manually enter prices that is for sure.

Here are some of the holdings:
1. https://www.fundsinfo.hsbc.com.sg/Overv ... code=FDVAC in morningstar - http://www.sg.morningstar.com/ap/quickt ... 0P0000KV3F
2. https://www.fundsinfo.hsbc.com.sg/Overv ... ?code=FGCF in morningstar - http://www.morningstar.co.uk/uk/funds/s ... F0GBR04D0Z
3. http://www.morningstar.co.uk/uk/funds/s ... F0GBR04S9K
4. http://www.morningstar.co.uk/uk/etf/sna ... 0P0000SM0U

can we not use ISIN to fetch current and historic price data?

Also it would be good to have password protection on portfolios, and I am guessing the portfolio data file is highly encrypted so if someone steals my laptop I don't have to worry about them finding out all my holding details.

thx

Hi kuteguy,

Fund Manager looks up quotes by whatever that particular quote server uses to reference the quotes. Most use the symbol, some ISIN, and some a unique ID. It depends on the server. All prices are requested from FM by using what you have recorded in the symbol field. So, whatever the quote server uses, enter that in the FM symbol field. You can find links to all the quote servers, and instructions for how to use each server here:

https://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/intrtv.html

Using one of your examples:

http://www.morningstar.co.uk/uk/funds/s ... F0GBR04S9K

You would use the server "Morningstar UK - Unit Trusts" and record for the symbol:

F0GBR04S9K

We also have a tutorial on how to retrieve prices.

Yes, you can password protect your portfolio/data from here:

"Options / General Preferences... / Data / Password Protect Data".
Thanks,
Mark

thankyou that really helped!

I will do some more testing - I am having some problems with totals within a sub-portfolio, etc - I will get back to this thread once I have a list of things I am stuck with, if any.
