Hi saulwong,

There seems to be an issue with Yahoo servers currently. I see the same problem here. The server is returning a message implying it is a temporary problem. We will update the online status for this server. Check under "Help / Fund Manager on the Web / Check for Updates...".

You can either wait to see if Yahoo resolves this, or you can switch to "Yahoo (Alternate)". It is a much slower server, but it is still working currently.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Cole,

See my earlier reply, right above your post. Yahoo is currently not working...

Hi Mark,

For my portfolio updating with the new module using Yahoo takes a very long time. I'm trying to switch to WSJ instead of using Yahoo. Do you know how to format the symbols for stocks that trade in London and Frankfurt? In Yahoo it was easy because the symbol was in the URL, but the URL in the WSJ website looks something like:

http://quotes.wsj.com/UK/XLON/LKOH
http://quotes.wsj.com/UK/XLON/SSA

Also, the same thing for currency exchanges. The URL would look something like:

http://quotes.wsj.com/fx/USDEUR

What is the right symbol for example in those cases to have in Fund Manager to retrieve those quotes?

For historical prices are you also recommending switching to WSJ instead of Yahoo or is the historical retrieve not affected by those issues?

Thank you,

Saul

Hi Saul,

Please see the documentation on the WSJ servers here:

https://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/intrtv.html#WSJ

Basically, the symbol is everything after the domain name and slash. For example, the first one you mentioned would use:

UK/XLON/LKOH

If you change your symbols, it might be best to change your historical server from Yahoo to WSJ also. In FM 2016 you would have to do this, but in FM 2018 you can have separate symbols for primary/historical servers. Yahoo (Historical) however has not been affected by the recent changes, and continues to work as it did before.
Thanks,
Mark
