TD Ameritrade Institutional Transactions Not Posting

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby ricbertsch » Thu Aug 31, 2017 6:29 am

Today when performing our TD Ameritrade Transaction Import the transactions did not post to the sub portfolio account investment. So we ran the import again and looked at the Details for each Transaction. The details provided the correct Transaction, Investment but had no Account# entered in the Sub-Portfolio.

The obvious first conclusion is that they didn't post because of the missing Sub Portfolio Account Number. Am I right on that? If so what needs to be done?

Or could there be another reason?

Hi ricbertsch,

the transactions did not post to the sub portfolio account investment

Where/how are you viewing this? In the "Preview Importing Transactions" dialog, or afterwards in some report or the Data Register? Were the transactions not listed at all in the "Preview Importing Transactions" dialog, or were they listed, but went into a different sub-portfolio than expected?

When importing, do you have on the option to import into matching account number as TRN account?

So we ran the import again and looked at the Details for each Transaction. The details provided the correct Transaction, Investment but had no Account# entered in the Sub-Portfolio.

Was this also in the "Preview Importing Transactions" dialog? Yes, if there was no account number, that would cause them to all be placed into a common sub-portfolio with no account number, instead of your sub-portfolio with an assigned account number.

If you open up the .TRN file you're importing in a text editor, do you see account numbers? They would be in the columns from position 17-31.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

The error, of course, was us. On the Import TD Ameritrade Transactions the Import into Fund Manager Portfolio was not set to: Matching Account Number as TRN Account.

Thanks!
