Yahoo (Historical) Not Updating Prices

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby tslee0000 » Mon Jun 19, 2017 7:40 pm

Mark,

I just used Yahoo (historial) server to retrieve yesterday's price and got an error message:

"Could not update any investment."

Would you please take a look at this problem? Thanks.

Mark,

Never mind. It's working now. I don't know what happened.

I am getting this same error - before and after updating to FM Pro 2016.14.14.100. Quote Module 517 and Transaction Module 224.

To add some detail, I am getting the error "Could not update any investments." This happens when I try to update Historical Prices on stocks that I've updated for years using this same method. It happens when I right-click on an individual stock and choose "Retrieve Selected Historical Prices" and also when I use the button at the top "Retrieve and update...."

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi Andrew,

Are you using "Yahoo (Historical)"? What date range are you requesting?
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

I tried various date ranges, e.g. May 3 through June 20 (today's date, which is the default). But I also tried May 3 through June 19 (i.e. yesterday) and May 1-31. I also tried individual stocks and all stocks together.

Hi Andrew,

It is working okay from here when I test it. You have the latest version (2016.14.14 with quote module 517), so that should be good. I assume you're retrieving a symbol that is available on Yahoo? The other thing to check is that you have cookies enabled in Internet Explorer. Open IE and go to the settings icon, and then "Internet Options... / Privacy", and make sure your setting is "Medium" or lower, so that you can get cookies. Yahoo requires them, and FM is using this component of IE to access the quotes from Yahoo, so it needs to be enabled in IE.
Thanks,
Mark

Aha! Maybe there is a conflict with Ghostery. Thanks for that tip!
