Error Msg: "The system cannot update the file specified"

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

I am getting this message when attempting price downloads from Yahoo. The problem started a few days ago following an update to the latest Windows Version "Windows 10 Version 1703" aka "Fall Creators Update". Prior to this I haven't had any problems with price updates. I am running Windows Home edition (not my first choice but it was free).
Fund Manager is current - 2016.14.14.100

I notice a lot of chat from years ago about Internet explorer having "Work Offline" turned on causing similar symptoms. I am running Internet Explorer 11 which does not have the work offline feature anymore. So that isn't causing it.

I do currency updates using "Wall Street Journal" quote server and that works fine.

Pls refer to the attached images to see the messages that occured while trying a download - Suggest you read them in number sequence 1 - 2 - 3 in
the filename.

Following is the contents of intlog3.txt (intlog.txt is empty, no other intlogs):

Hi Lloyd,

Can you check your Internet Explorer settings, and make sure you have Cookies enabled? You might also try doing a reset of your Internet Explorer settings.

Hi Mark
I checked cookies and all options were enabled.
I tried a reset and everything reset except reset of "user customisations" failed - why I do not know at this point.

After rebooting, I get the same error conditions.

FYI - My primary browser is Firefox, IE gets almost zero usage.

I notice two posts since mine that are indicating similar issues...hmmmm?

Further information:
I am running FM Pro, my wife is running FM Personal 2016.14.14.100

I tried an identical price update from Yahoo on her system and got the same (error) results as on my system. She has her own computer and is running Windows Home 10 Version 1607 - the version prior to mine.

I have tried both Historical and Selected prices and both fail.
I have also tried downloading prices for stocks on the Canadian Exchange (TSX) and stocks on a US exchange (NYSE) - both fail


I'm starting to think Yahoo has changed something.

Hi Lloyd,

Yahoo is working okay here when I test it. Can you retrieve from any quote server? If you try one besides Yahoo, do you get the same error message? Can you browse to this page using Internet Explorer:

https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/INTC?p=INTC

I realize you use Firefox, but please use IE to test the above link. Fund Manager uses wininet to access the quote servers, which is also used by IE and is part of Windows.
