Mutual Fund quotes from yahoo not being rounded

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Mark,

I noticed some of my mutual fund quotes from yahoo are not being rounded to two decimal places. Examples below. Can you recommend a different quote source? thanks

Hi flight,

I see the same issue with Yahoo (Historical), but haven't seen it using just Yahoo. For historical quotes you could use any of the other historical servers, like Google or WSJ. See the list here:

hi Mark, wish it was that easy.

1) don't see WSJ listed as a choice.
2) google historical and google historical mutuals do not seem to be retrieving here
3) reuters doesn't work
Retrieving from server: (REUTERS)
Requesting: "VITLX"
Could not update any investments
WARNING: Server used but did not update any prices: (REUTERS)
4) morningstar doesn't seem to work

Hi flight,

Are you looking for a current or historical quote server? I assumed historical because Yahoo (Historical) is the source for those prices out to 6 digits. If you're just looking for a current quote server, you can stick with plain Yahoo.

1) WSJ requires Fund Manager 2016. WSJ has both a current and historical version.
2) I just test retrieved the symbol VITLX from "Google (Historical Mutuals)" and it retrieved properly. Make sure you have the latest quote module (511).
3) Reuters is a current quote server, not historical. It also only supports stocks.
4) I just test retrieved the symbol VITLX from "Morningstar - Funds" and it retrieved properly. Make sure you have the latest quote module (511). This is also a current quote server only.

First answer the question are you looking for a current or historical server, and then you can choose an appropriate replacement.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

Just for information, prices from FondsCheck are downloaded with 4 decimals for some funds.

Two examples:
http://www.fondscheck.de/quotes/historic?secu=100124188
http://www.fondscheck.de/quotes/historic?secu=103300707

I don't know if that can be considered as an issue. I've considered it is not.

Mark -

Do I need to delete the old quotes, or will it overwrite them?

Hi flight,

When you retrieve prices any already recorded prices for those dates will be overwritten. If you're only retrieving current prices, it won't override older/historical prices. You need to retrieve historical prices if you're looking to fix up prior recorded prices.
Thanks,
Mark
