Yahoo Servers Down - Status Update

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby Mark » Wed Jul 13, 2016 9:56 pm

Yahoo Finance changed their site on July 12, and the following quote servers are currently not working:

Yahoo (Historical)
Yahoo (Options)
Yahoo (Realtime)

We are working on an update to restore them ASAP. You can check the status under "Help / FM on the Web / Check for Updates...".
Thanks,
Mark

Quote module 497 is now available that fixes all the Yahoo servers, and adds support for additional servers. The Yahoo (Historical) server requires Fund Manager 2016.14.8 or later, which is available now on the download page. For information on all the available quote servers, please see:

Mark,

I think this was possibly address in another post, but can you please advise the FM 14 users on what they should do? I saw your comment about it working with FM 16, but not sure this helps those who didn't have plans on upgrading at the moment. thanks

Hi flight,

You will have access to all the quote servers except Yahoo (Historical). You can still use Yahoo (Adjusted Historical) or either of the Google historical quote servers.

Currently we've reverted to 496 for the FM 2014 version, as there were issues with the 497 release and FM 2014.
Thanks,
Mark

Pardon if I missed it, but are there instructions on how to revert to the prior quote server?

Separately, I believe the indicies sub-portfolios that I created are now empty? does that make any sense?

To revert, delete your "inteng13x.dll" file, and do another "Help / FM on the Web / Check for Updates...".

I don't think the quote module should have anything to do with investments in a sub-portfolio. If you can't find them, or re-open the investments, maybe you need to restore from a backup.
Thanks,
Mark

It says it is already open, but when I look at the main window, it is blank/empty.

Maybe it is open in a different sub-portfolio, or it is hidden? Try turning on "View / Hidden Investments/Portfolios". You can also run a Portfolio Value report, and filter by symbol. Put your cursor over the investment, and in the status bar it will show you the sub-portfolio hierarchy where it is located.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,
I am running the 2014 Advisor Version of Fund Manager.
Am I right in my understanding that in order to continue using the Yahoo (Adjusted Historical) server I have to upgrade to Fund Manager 2016?

Hi Robert,

No, you don't have to upgrade. The "Yahoo (Adjusted Historical)" server is still working in FM 2014. The "Yahoo (Historical)" server will continue working in FM 2014, except for the retrieval of dividends/splits that this server is capable of. To get that feature you would need to upgrade to FM 2016. This update will be available later tonight with quote module 498.
Thanks,
Mark

I apologize for the problems with the 497 quote module. It was not backwards compatible. We've fixed the problem, and released quote module 498. You can get it with "Help / FM on the Web / Check for Updates...". It is available for both FM 2014 and FM 2016. The Yahoo (Historical) quote server will retrieve prices in both versions. If you are using a Professional or Advisor version and wish to use this server to retrieve dividends/splits you will need to be using FM 2016.14.9 or later. A description of all the changes in the quote module is available here:

Mark,

The investment was indeed hidden. And, there were no transactions recorded. Following discovering that, I have unchecked the hidden box and recorded a transaction as described here: https://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/faq ... arison.php. Additionally, I have confirmed the "retrieve price" is checked off for internet retrieve and default server selected.

However, FM says "could not update any investments" when I try updating historical prices for the S&P Total Return, ticker "SPTR:IND". Am I using the correct server?

The S&P 500 Price Return Index "^GSPC" is working fine. that is the good news.

Below is the log....

Retrieve Starting
Quote Module Version = 501
Retrieving from server: (YAHOO-HISTORICAL)
Requested Historical Retrieve Dates: 7/1/2016 - 7/24/2016
Requesting: "SPTR:IND"
Could not update any investments
WARNING: Server used but did not update any prices: (YAHOO-HISTORICAL)

Hi flight,

The symbol you're using looks like it is from the Bloomberg server. When using Yahoo you would want to change it to the symbol Yahoo uses for the S&P 500 Total Return, which is: ^SP500TR.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark

I was having problems retrieving prices from Yahoo Historical, they were down this morning until about 5 minutes ago when they suddenly started working again.
