One gigantic SE1 file

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby BradN » Tue Feb 21, 2012 2:25 pm

Mark,

I thought I had gotten this to work earlier. I had stitched all my se1 files together into on enormous se1.

Is there any reason why I should not be able to import this one file instead of the hundreds individually?

Each separate date from the file is identified with this for example.

000HDR SECYINFO H01192012
777 G2803G102 DOLHF 000.0000000
000HDR SECYINFO H01232012

They are not in chronological order.

Thanks,
Brad

Hi Brad,

Unfortunately, you can't do this... The Scottrade .SE1 files have the date in the header as you've observed. Fund Manager only reads a single header per .SE1 file, as that is how Scottrade builds them. Once it finds the first header, it assumes all the rest of the lines in that file are for the same date. Fund Manager isn't expecting you to concatenate several .SE1 files together.

Normally when you import transactions (*.TR1), the prices are also read in from your .SE1 file in the same folder. If for some reason you didn't have your .SE1 files in the same folder when you imported transactions, you can import "transactions" from a folder again, and put all your separate .SE1 files in that folder, and they'll be read in.
Thanks,
Mark
