Importing deposits and withdrawals from .csv file

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby cbenenax » Mon Feb 21, 2011 6:19 pm

Before purchasing I want to see if I can get my existent portfolios imported.

Read the web page http://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/help ... neric.html

Don't see any transaction code for simple deposits/withdrawals of cash from the portfolio. What am I missing?

Hello cbenenax,

You will want to create an investment to track your cash. Keep all transactions/prices in your cash investment at a price of 1. For deposits/withdrawals, these are just buy/sell transactions in the cash investment.
Thanks,
Mark

Still cannot get this to work correctly. After importing all of my transactions, my cash account did not get debited for any of my purchases.

I deleted everything and started over: created the cash account, assigned it as the cash account for the portfolio, entered all the deposits/withdrawals by hand. But when I imported the rest of the transactions, the cash account was not debited.

I also tried creating the cash account with only the starting balance, then imported all the transactions (including deposits/withdrawals) except the initial funding. No difference.

I also tried creating an EMPTY cash account, and importing all transactions. Still no luck.

I cannot see a way to import a portfolio from a generic text file.

Hi cbenenax,

1) How did you assign the default cash account? It should be set under the properties of your sub-portfolio.

2) If you manually enter some test buy, does it debit your default cash account? It should, or else something isn't set up right.

3) When you import, notice at the bottom of the "Preview Transactions" page of the import wizard there is an option:

Automatically Record Corresponding Entries in Default Cash Account

Make sure you leave that option ON.
Thanks,
Mark
