price update problem

Hi Mark,

Just tried to update prices and am getting a 12152 error that requires closing the program with Control/Alt/Del (gets in a loop).

Then I tried a smaller portfolio and all I got was historical update.

Hi David,

Are you using any software firewall program like Norton or McAfee? If so, have you told those programs it is okay for Fund Manager to access the internet?

Also, does it matter what quote server you use? If you try using a different quote server, do you still get this error?

Nothing has changed on this end. I use the freebee version of AVG antivirus. No firewall per se. When I try to update a small portifolio, I get the Yahoo Historical window. I tried changing quote server on one investment using Edit/Investment Properties/Internet Retrieve. Tried Yahoo, Bloomberg and MSN and I still get the Yahoo Historical window when I do Edit/Internet Retrieve/Prices.

I think I have resolved the main problem with the error message. The same BB stock kept coming up before the error message. I changed it so it doesn't update via the internet. So far, so good.

I'll run through everything again tomorrow and see what happens.

Hi David,

If you get a Yahoo (Historical) prompt when you retrieve prices, then one or more of your servers is set to use that server. You can check the default server settings under "Options / Internet Settings...". You can also check the settings on a per-investment basis under "Investment Properties... / Internet Retrieve". You might also find it helpful to create yourself a "Custom" report, and add the field:

Quote Server

Create the report at your topmost sub-portfolio, and list by investment.
