Transaction Retrieve: How Far Back Does Fund Manager Go?

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby aviator » Mon Jun 14, 2010 1:49 pm

Hi Mark,

I am planning to be out of town for quite some time. I currently retrieve transactions through Fund Manager, using my brokers OFX server. If I don't retrieve transactions for, say, two months, will FM know how to properly retrieve transactions the next time I perform a retrieve? (That is, will FM know to go back 2 months instead of the week or so that is the current time interval? When I return, is there anything I need to do to "help" FM know it's been a couple of months since the last retrieve?)

Thanks,
aviator

Hi aviator,

This is fine, you shouldn't have to do anything special.

The date of your last retrieve is remembered as part of your portfolio, and that is set as the default for the "from" date to retrieve. You can always adjust this from date in the transaction retrieve dialog, but it defaults to the date you last did a retrieve in that portfolio.

Fund Manager will go as far back as you want. The usual limitation on how far back you can go is from your broker. Most brokers keep at least 90 days on their OFX server though. This length does vary by broker.
Thanks,
Mark
