Graphs: date range selection applied to all open investments

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager graphs.

Hi Mark,

In the online help:

For investment based graph types you can hold down the Shift key on your keyboard while making a selection from the dropdown combination box. Holding down the Shift key will cause the date range selection to be applied to all open investments. Otherwise, it is only applied to the topmost investment.

It seems the date range selection is only applied to the investments in the current sub-portfolio. I think I would prefer the behavior as described in the online help. What do you think?

Hi Djobydjoba,

I think for now we will correct the documentation, and leave the functionality as is. I do think this needs to be more consistent, as there are some date commands that do apply to all open investments, and others groups of commands that apply only to all the investments in the active portfolio. I can confirm that holding down Shift while selecting a date range from the combo box on the toolbar will apply only to all investments in the active portfolio, not all open investments. I can see a case where both situations are useful. For example, if you have 2 graph windows open to different active portfolios, you may not want these commands to apply globally, which would affect both windows, but there are other times where you could want this. At least the documentation should be correct, so we'll start there...
Thanks,
Mark
