MA overlay doesn't match MA in TA graph

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager graphs.

Mark I finally found the trend line colors and figured out that all the overlays for MA use the same colors no matter the trend type but I still have one more question.
Using a Cst-Price chart what is the cost line called? I don't see a cost listed in the color selections and would like to change it.

Hi Jim,

The Cost is considered the first overlaid line in this graph type, so it would use the color:

NAV overlaid/MA 1/Upper TA 2
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

Sorry for the back and forth on this.

To be clear, if I want a 50 and 200 day moving average, I should divide by 5 and get 10 and 40. This is for both the MA Overlay graph and the TA Graph with MA in the upper graph?

When I do this, the 40 week MA in the MA Overlay graph does not look right. Look at these two screenshots.

Hi Ilikemybu,

No. The Moving Average graphs are specified in weeks (5 periods), and the TA graph is specified in periods. So, the graphs:

Graphs / Moving Average
Graphs / MA Overlay

both use: "Graphs / Options / Moving Average Weeks..." and this specifies the moving average in weeks, which is 5 periods for each week.

The graph:

Graphs / Technical Analysis

uses: "Graphs / Options / Technical Analysis..." and the moving averages are specified in "periods". Both of these dialogs are labelled, one with Weeks, and the other with Periods.

So, if you want a 50 and 200 day moving average, set:

"Graphs / Options / Moving Average Weeks..." to 10 and 40 weeks
"Graphs / Options / Technical Analysis..." to 50 and 200 periods
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,
Is there any way you can set up an alert to trigger when the MADC line and Signal Line cross on the Technical Analysis?
Also is there any way that you can set up an alert to trigger when two moving averages cross for example when a 50 day MA crosses below a 200 day and when the 50 day MA crosses above a 200 day MA. IF so can you in any way make these alerts be always on so you automatically get alerts every time these events occur, sort of an informational alarm.
