Country or Region of Investment

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager graphs.

Postby El Gordo » Tue Aug 21, 2018 10:31 pm

Mark,

Is there a method to retrieve and pie graph the country or region of the world where our funds are invested? You have means programmed in Fund Manger to extract the diversification in regards to asset type and sector, but there is currently no ability to extract the country or region where the funds are invested. I have many mutual funds that have investments in foreign countries and I would like to be able to see a pie chart of my portfolio's world diversification.

Would this be possible to incorporate in your Fund Manager program?

Thank you,

El Gordo

Hi El Gordo,

This is something we can try to add in the future but there is no ability to automatically retrieve this information currently. You could use one of the 3 existing categories for this purpose, and manually enter the countries. You could then plot the pie graph, or do anything else you can do with categories.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

I echo the need for a country category. Currently, I use all three categories :
- Asset type to track portfolio allocation by symbol
- Investment Goal to track the type of future income by symbol (depending in which account they are held) to estimate income taxes and net investment income. (using a custom field to calculate expected income)
- Sector

A way to report/graph on country would be a nice addition. Manual entry per investment is fine. I use 95% ETF in the portfolios, hence this country category shall allow multiple country % per investment.

FundManager is very flexible, the reporting capability are great ! Keep up the good work!

Hi Martin,

Okay, thanks for the feedback. I'm sure this would be a good improvement.
Thanks,

Hi Mark,
I think another alternative is to divide the portfolios by country. Then you can plot a pie chart with the percentage allocated to each country. Do you think this might work? Do you foresee any problems?
Best,
Thiago

HI Thiago,

Yes, you could definitely do this. It might be a lot of work depending on how many countries you are invested in, but it would work.
Thanks,
Mark
