Graphical cost definition

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager graphs.

Mark,

Is there any way to change/redefine the cost of an investment. I have several cases where an investment entering into a portfolio has a previous cost associated with it or where the cost cited is not appropriate.

Yours,

Richard

Hi Richard,

Yes. The cost is calculated from your recorded transactions. Just edit the recorded transactions, to adjust their cost to the correct value. You can do this in the Data Register with the data type set to "Investments (all)".
Thanks,

Mark,

That way I know. Is there any way to do it independently of my recorded transactions on a given date?

Hi Richard,

You can only specify the cost in the transaction details. Is there some problem you're running into with this method?
Thanks,
Mark

The problem I'm running into is due to me . I was very careless in the past, so some of my graphics have the wrong cost. Some of this is/was due dividends return as stock, other reasons I'm not even sure of. What I'd like to be able to do is have the graphical costs reflect the numbers that my broker has.

Hi Richard,

By 'graphical costs', do you mean the markers on the graphs? If so, these are based on the cost you have recorded for that transaction. It sounds like you may need to just update the cost recorded in your transactions, to match your broker's statements.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

No I mean the line that represents the cost and the number in the upper left hand corner of the cost-price graph.

Hi Richard,

That cost line is also from your recorded transactions. If you record all your transactions with the correct cost, then this line will be plotted at the correct cost (as determined from your transactions).
Thanks,
Mark
