Portfolio Gain

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager graphs.

Postby kartola » Fri Mar 01, 2013 11:06 am

Hi

i made a master porfolio in which I have 3 portfolios with some funds inside.
In the editor I can see the OOP Current Gain (it is the current gain I suppose... the actual value minus want I paid...).
But when I see the master porfolio gain graph, the value is different from the OOP current gain.
In 1 porfolio the gain graph report different value from che OPP current gain, and inside this portfolio 1 fund has the same problem. Instead the other funds the OOP current gain value is the same of the portfolio gain graph...
What do you think it could be the problem?

Thanks
kartola

Hi kartola,

The graphs can plot either "current" or "historical" gain. The current is only for shares currently owned. Historical includes net gains/losses on previously sold shares. To toggle this mode, see "Graphs / Options / Historical cost" while viewing a graph window.
Thanks,
Mark

There are no sellings...

If I toggle between current and historical I see the same value on the graph. And it is different from the OOP current gain in the portfolio editor....

Hi kartola,

The gain numbers in the graphs are gains since the starting graph date only. The OOP Current Gain figure in the Portfolio editor is gain since inception as of today. Therefore, to get the same numbers, set your graph date range from inception to today.
