Holding period on shares

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Is there any way to generate a report that gives the holding period of shares? It seems like there must be some way to do this, but I can't find an option under the reports (maybe I missed it?). Basically I want to know the number of shares of a fund/stock held for more than a year, and the number of shares held for less than a year, in order to determine how many shares I can sell for a long term gain.

Hi nagorak,

There isn't really a report that gives you exactly this. It is a good idea for a new report though. There are ways you can get this information though:

1) Record a fake sell transaction, and then use the "Specify Lots..." dialog. Select this sell, and you will see a listing of all the available shares you can sell. Each purchase will list the number of shares available to sell, and whether it is a long or short term gain/loss.

2) Graph the investment, and turn on "Un-Specified Lot" markers. You can visually see where all the un-sold shares are in time/price.
Thanks,
Mark
