Report doesn't add up

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Hi Mark
After using an earlier version of FM for many years, I'm trying out 9.4.

This is weird - I ran a Portfolio value report and this is how it looks:

PLAINS ALL AMERN PIPELINE L UNIT LTD PAR 2.4 39.96 400.000 15,984.00
9ZYZRF727 3.7 1.00 24,680.020 24,680.02
BREAKWATER RES LTD COM NEW 0.2 0.10 13,000.000 1,300.00
CAPSTEAD MTG CORP COM NO PAR 4.6 10.78 2,800.000 30,184.00
Cash 5.1 1.00 33,516.720 33,516.72
GOLD ORE RES LTD 1.6 0.43 24,000.000 10,320.00
MDN INC COMMON 1.1 0.49 15,100.000 7,399.00
METANOR RESOURCES INC 0.9 0.48 12,000.000 5,760.00
MV Oil Trust 0.0 10.60 0.000 0.00
TDA Joint 17.5 115,763.74

I don't know if this will format legibly, but the total of 115,763 seems to exclude the MDN and Metanor stocks. If you add up the individual issues, you'll find the total is about $13k short.

What gives?

Also, is there a checkbox or option somewhere that will allow me to combine several instances of a stock that is held throughout several sub-portfolios so that it shows as one stock (with all the share amounts totalled) in the Master Portfolio report?

Thanks
Robert A

Hi Robert A,

The report doesn't add up if you exclude those 2 investments either. Try turning on "View / Hidden Portfolios/Investments..." and see if that clears it up. You may have some hidden investments (with a negative value) affecting the total value. Also, make sure your report doesn't have a scroll bar, or if it does, make sure you are looking at all of the investments considering scrolling.

To view all your holdings of the same security combined, set the "List By" report setting to "Symbol". Turn off sub-totals, and select your Master Portfolio to report on. This will combine all investments with the same symbol onto one line.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark
The hidden investment with negative value was the problem.

Thanks

:D Mark, I'm a newbe to the forum but a long time user of Fund Manager. This info saved my sanity. I like the format and ease of use.
