Capital Gains Report showing "N/A" Cost Basis?

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Postby jstolzen » Fri Feb 01, 2019 2:19 pm

Hi, Mark. I'm trying to run a Capital Gains report for some individual stock sales in 2018, and even though I entered all of the purchases and sales separately, and assigned specific lots to each sale, the report is saying "N/A" in the Cost Basis column.

Any suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong?

Thx -

Jim

PS - this is the Personal Version of FM 2018 (2018.15.3.100). I also just noticed that the "Bought" and "Term" columns are also "N.A" even though I have the shares sold linked to the specific lots originally purchased..

Hi jstolzen,

This usually happens when using the Specific Lots accounting method and you haven't specified all of the sold lots in the investment. You have to specify all sold lots in the investment, even those outside the date range being reported on. You can verify the reason for the N/A by looking at "Help / Logs / Report Calculation...".
Thanks,
Mark

Mark - thanks for the very quick reply. That did the trick - I was missing one lot from a sale I did yesterday. Once I mapped those shares back to the original purchases, all worked as expected.
