Custom field for the report total

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Postby divinest » Sat Feb 17, 2018 11:21 am

Hi Mark,
Is there a way to get a percentage of the current row with the report total of a specific field
For instance in the following image, is there way to create a custom field to show the % of the total with respective to their each item. The goal here is to see how much percentage of the total income is a specific line item. As always thanks in advance for your answer.

Hi divinvest,

Yes, use the functions:

REPORT_PORTFOLIO()
REPORT_SUBTOTAL()

For example, you can write this equation:

100*Divdist_btw/REPORT_PORTFOLIO(Divdist_btw)

to get what you're describing.
Thanks,
Mark

HI Mark, A follow up question, i noticed using the newly created custom field when i open the report (the report has less than 10 positions, and approx 100 transactions), does take few seconds to create the report (you would see the progress bar), is that normal when you create and use custom fields or are there additional tips and tricks to speed up the custom fields.

Thanks much!

Hi divinest,

Yes, unfortunately this can be normal when using user-defined fields. They do calculate slower than built-in fields typically. Some are slower than others, it depends on which functions you use in your user-defined field equation.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks Marc, i was using REPORT_PORTFOLIO() as suggested in the earlier post 100*Divdist_btw/REPORT_PORTFOLIO(Divdist_btw). Again, it does the job, just bit slower compared to the default reports (which are very very fast).

Thanks!
