Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Hello mark

Hopefully you can see the file.

I am at a complete loss as to why I should be getting such a large negative time weighted return in complete contrast to the percentage gain in NAV?

Hi rupertpage,

You can turn on yield logging (Options / General Preferences / Yields / Log Calculations for TWR yields). You can also email me that particular investment file, and I can take a look.
Thanks,
Mark

ok.
I think I have sorted out the issue.
As it was a preference share I had the income field set up in bond format.
When I revert to a dividend format that seems to correct in my portfolio and in the report.
However when I graph the share price I still get negative 1yr; 2yr; 3yr values but a positive graph holding period value

Hi rupertpage,

Yes, the issue is related to how you have the prices/income set for this investment. By default, FM includes accrued interest in your yield calculations. When using the "Bond Interest" style, your interest payment is based on the face value and coupon rate. The face value is 100 times the number of shares. In this example investment you sent the price is closer to $1 than $100, so the accrued interest weighs very heavily on the reported performance. I would suggest reading these instructions for recording bond transactions.

So, you can either correct all your transactions and closing prices, or not use the "Bond Interest" income style on this investment.
Thanks,
Mark
