moving files

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Postby Mary Kennedy » Wed Jul 12, 2017 7:56 am

I have moved my FM data from my C drive to my cloud drive so that I can access it from multiple computers. Apparently I didn't do it quite right and FM was storing data in the cloud but still using the C drive to build my reports. When I remove that folder, all my reports disappear.

Can you tell me the names of the individual file(s) that have reports in them so that I can manually move them to the cloud address?

Hi Mary Kennedy,

Reports are not stored as files. What exactly are you doing where you say your "reports disappear"?

There are 2 types of files, portfolio (*.mm4) and investment (*.dat) files. You can move these using "File / File Operations / Set Data Location...". This moves all your data.

There are also preferences, like font preferences, memorized reports, etc which are stored in the registry. You can use "File / Backup..." and "File / Restore..." to move these registry preferences between computers, or you can use the portable/cloud mode.
Thanks,
Mark
