Custom Settings - realized capital gains

I see custom settings that include fields for distributed capital gains but not for realized capital gains related to redemptions. Am I missing something?

Hi paulstonge,

The 'distributed capital gains' are referring to distributions of the type 'capital gains' that were paid in cash (not reinvested). All recorded distributions (both distributed and reinvested) of the type 'LT/MT/ST Cap Gains' are all realized.

Maybe you are looking for realized gains/losses? If so, see the "Capital Gains" report.

Hi paulstonge,

Unfortunately, there is no such field available in the Custom report. I think you're asking for fields like this to be added:

Realized Gain FIFO (btw)
Realized Gain AVG (btw)
Realized Gain Specific Lot (btw)

I guess it could even be broken down more, to short, medium, or long term components. This information is all available in the Capital Gains reports, but not as a sum for the Custom reports.

Basically what I like to show is the detail of what you now have in the field called gain on the custom list. Also there is a custom field for tax basis unrealized gain (end) but not one for tax basis unrealized gain (beg) or put another way there is no field for the change in unrealized. To get a better understanding of where I am going, this is a reconciliation that I like to use:

Is there a work around that anyone is aware of that would display the total realized capital gains for the period in a custom report?

This cannot be done today in a custom report, only in a capital gains report.
