Report to Excel

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Postby bloveless » Wed Sep 03, 2008 8:19 am

Hello Mark,

I run the Fund Performance Report: copy text, and paste to Excel. I create another column with the sum of the performance yields (called MOM - monentum). It works great except when the * symbol is used to denote "Interpolated Values".

Is there any way to turn the * symbol "off" even though we know that it uses interpolated data? Also, could you make it possible to only "bullet" the number of selections that you want? Of course the ideal fix would be to have a bullet labeled "SUM" or "MOM" that would sum the row of selected performance yields, then be able to even sort by sum as we do the yield periods.

Thanks for all the great enhancements over the years!

Blessings, Bill

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the feedback/ideas on a SUM/MOM column.

You can turn off the "*" for interpolation, but only in the Advisor version, where you have more control over the appearance of reports. I can see why you'd want this here too. You may want to make use of a global search/replace in a text editor or Excel where you replace "*" with nothing, or a space.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

I was unable to go directly to excel because * is a wildcard and you will delete the entire cell. I was able to paste into Word, delete the *'s, then paste to excel. That works but sure is a pain. It would be nice to be able to turn it off; have it a different color or use a symbol that is compatible with Excel.

Thanks,

Bill

Mark,

I was finally able to do the replace directly in Excel. Using the "find" command, type in ~*, then leave "replace" blank.

Hi Bill,

Excellent. Makes sense there was some special feature in Excel for doing this. Thanks for sharing the tip.
Thanks,
Mark
