Portfolio Value List by Symbol (filter) exclude

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Postby divinest » Fri Feb 15, 2019 6:15 pm

Hi Mark, You may have very well answered this before (i wasn't able to find in the forum search). I have the same stock across two portfolio i could do a list by symbol to get the %allocation in the performance report, however if i want to exclude an asset type (such as mutual funds) and want to see only stock holdings percentages across portfolios - how can i do that? As the filter icon is greyed out as soon as I select the list by symbol. Is there a workaround using a custom report with custom fields ? Thanks much

Hi divinest,

You have 2 ways you can do this:

1) List by "Investment Type".
2) List by "Investment" and then you can filter by "Investment Type". You can't filter when listing by "Symbol".
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks Mark, That works for investment type; however here is an example of what i am looking for

I have PG in two portfolio along with other stock, and ETF. If i want to see total portfolio percentage as only the Stocks (exclude investment type of ETF) but group all the same symbol together how would i do that.

Hi divinest,

That is a permutation you can't do. You can list by Investment, and filter out the ETF type, and you'll have 2 listings for PG in this example. You can't list by symbol and filter out the ETF type.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks Mark. Was wondering if there a is a specific reason that prevents to view the grouping mentioned? Also do you see if this is something can be done with custom fields and reports? I am.using FM pro edition

Hi divinest,

There is no fundamental reason that permutation can't be supported, it just isn't a feature available today. I can't think of a way to do this with a user-defined field either. The best I can suggest is to list by investment. If you wanted, you could export the investment listed report to Excel and sum them by symbol in Excel.
Thanks,
Mark
