Closing Reaing File(s) Window after import

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Mark:
I'm trying to import data using the generic function and have many false starts due to formating etc. When I try to import and either abort the import or FM can't read records for some reason, the Reading File(s) window pops up and won't close. How do you close this window without restarting the program?

Hi jnewton,

That status window should only stay open while actually reading in a file for import. Can you give me some steps to reproduce the problem where it stays open?
Thanks,
Mark

First of all I'm using a trial version of FM Advisor version 10. Am importing transaction to populate potfolios. I'm exporting transactions out of MS Money to Excel, massaging the info in excel and then saving as a CSV file. I then go to FM and open the Generic Import window. Choose the CSV file and set the import string. At this step: if I discover something wrong and cancel, the window Reading File(s) will appear and won't go away. Or if I am continuing and ask it to read the file and the Reading File(s) window appears. If it can read the file: it completes the import the window closes and the import records appear and ask it be accepted. However, if it can't read the file a second window apprears and states that the some records can't be read. In this case, the Reading File(s) window states 0 records read and will not close. FM program still works, but Window remains open in the middle of the screeen. Only way I know to close it is to restart the program.

Hi jnewton,

That sounds like you're running into some bug. We'll take a closer look, and see if we can't find the problem. I did a quick test, and wasn't able to reproduce it, but will do some more testing tomorrow. I'll let you know what we find.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi jnewton,

I was able to find/fix this bug. If you do a generic transaction import that errors out, the status dialog was not being closed. This will be fixed in 10.2, which I expect to be released within the next day or so.
Thanks,
Mark
