Might Purchase if I Can Backdate Entries Automatically

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby Creaky » Mon Aug 17, 2009 6:04 pm

I'm looking into personal investment management software. My brokerage firm is not supported. I will have to manually enter each investment I own.

Can I enter a stock I bought 10 years ago and will Fund Manager automatically import all dividends, splits etc. in whatever historical time period I specify?

Will it do the same for mutual funds?

If so, is there a limit to how far back in time I can go?

Would the Personal version do this or must I use the Professional version?

My investments are mostly Canadian, some U.S.; OK?

Hi Creaky,

Yes, if using the Professional or Advisor versions of Fund Manager you can retrieve historical dividend information for both US stocks and funds. This data is coming from Yahoo, and general goes back quite far (>10 years). You can check your stocks/funds by going to:

http://finance.yahoo.com

and looking up the quotes for your stocks/funds. On the left hand side, click on "Historical Prices", and then check the "Dividends Only" option. This is where Fund Manager is retrieving the data. If Yahoo has it, then Fund Manager will retrieve it for you. This is done when retrieving historical prices using the "Yahoo (Historical)" quote server.
Thanks,
Mark
