Asset Allocations

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Hello Mark,

I was wondering where the data for custom asset allocations is kept? I ask because I installed Fund Manager on my home computer and my work computer. At home, I entered in custom allocation data. I installed at work using a backup copy from home, but the custom allocations did not show up. Thanks!

Hello,

These settings are stored in the registry at:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Beiley Software\Fund Manager\CurrentVersion\Asset Type Labels

You can use 'regedit' to view/export/import this key from one computer to another.
Thanks,
Mark

Hey Mark,

I know this subject came up when I had to migrate to a new computer. I had some good data backups but the registry was not something I had backed up. Plus, I was moving from XP to Vista, so maybe that would not have done me any good anyway. I'm sure there are probably some technical reasons why you don't want to/can't do this, however, if these settings could be included in a data file to be stored with the rest of the data, that would simplify moving to a new computer and especially help when needing to go to a new op system.

Thanks for considering.

Hi rm_organ,

The new backup feature of 9.0 does now include all your registry settings.
Thanks,
Mark
