Portfolio Performance: N.A.

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby chris319 » Mon Dec 20, 2021 11:59 am

In the Portfolio Performance report I am getting N.A. in the %Gain column for just one security. All of the other securities have what appear to be valid %Gain values. There is a valid value in the adjacent Gain column for the security in question.

What are the likely causes of the N.A. and is there a fix? I have checked the extrapolation period and found nothing amiss.

Thank you.

Hi chris319,

Select "Help / Logs / Report Calculation..." and you should get an explanation. Let me know if you need further clarification once you read that.
Thanks,
Mark

There is no Report Calculation menu item in the Help -> Logs menu.

Hi chris319,

Make sure you are in the report in question, and then it will be there. If you're in a non-report window (Portfolio Editor or Graph), you won't see Report Calculation....
Thanks,
Mark

Did you have any remaining questions after reading that log? If you're wondering about the negative OOP basis restriction on %Gain calculations, see the documentation here:

https://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/hel ... n_oop.html

The denominator of this equation is your OOP basis. As the OOP basis goes to zero, the %Gain approaches infinite. When the OOP basis is negative, the %Gain is reported as N.A..

For some reason I can't make the N.A. go away.

Forget it. I'll use Excel to calculate my IRR.
