Sharenet issue?

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Hi Mark

I have a sub-portfolio setup for some instruments in South Africa. My overall master portfolio is set to GBP

e.g. AnBro Unicorn USD Portfolio 1 (UABCPA). I have the currency property set as ZAR and changed the quote server to sharenet.

On sharenet, I can see a price of R235 but the retrieved price is coming in at 1161. If I use the default quote server, I get the same price.

The other issue is that I get a weird market value in GBP that makes no sense (for that investment)

Have I done something odd?

Thanks

now I am even more confused. I tried a GBP only portfolio using AUGM

Where 1000 shares x 159.162 price has a market value of 159162

Clearly I am screwing up the decimal usage somewhere :(

Hmm, I think I see the issue

if I add 100 shares of SKYP.L

Fund manager then multiplies that by the price retrieved from Yahoo of 864.8 *today". The issue is that this the gets translated into a nonsensical value i.e. the value report assumes 864.8 x 100 = value in GBP. This ignores the point that price is in cents.

I am likely to be missing something very obvious.... :(

Hello DarkDogZA,

If you use the plain Yahoo server, it will retrieve UK prices in the quoted pence values. However, if you use the "Yahoo UK & Ireland" server, and your symbol has the ".L" suffix, it will divide by 100 before recording the price, converting it to pounds. For more on this, see the instructions for this server here.

Also, you could use the regular Yahoo server, and turn on the investment property:

Investment Properties... / Internet Retrieve / Multiple Retrieved Price By:

and set it to 0.01. There is flexibility here, so you can do whatever method you prefer.
Thanks,
Mark
