Changing Portfolio Name and Account Number

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby Ron AKA » Sat May 16, 2020 2:41 pm

I have reached the age of 71 and need to switch my Canadian RRSP to a RRIF. All of the investments in the Portfolio will be simply transferred in kind to the new account in TD WebBroker. In Fund Manager can I simply right click on the RRSP portfolio and then use Properties to change the name of the Portfolio and the Account number? This would save me a lot of set up time compared to setting up a new Portfolio and Account and then somehow transferring the holdings to the new account. There is no change to the tax status of the account. Now I am just forced to withdraw a prescribed minimum amount each year.

Hi Ron AKA,

Yes, in this case, it sounds like you can simply change the name/account number properties. You might also want to add a note in the memo section to remind you of when it changed.
Thanks,
Mark

Thank you for the response. I will make the note in the memo field as suggested. TD has not be real quick in making the transfer and I am still waiting for them to do the transfer.
