Restore Question

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Is is possible to restore the data from just one investment?

I lost historical data on one of my holdings. I'm certain that I have that data in an old backup file, but recent backups no longer have the older historical data that I want. Another question: is is possible to set up a separate portfolio that is not included the the Master Portfolio and would not "see" any other FM data

Hi LungDoc,

Yes, you can restore anything, including just a single investment. Use "File / Restore..." and pick the *.FMB you want to restore from. Select the one investment in the list, and choose the option to only restore selected items (not everything in the backup).

Yes, you can have multiple *.mm4 portfolio files, which are completely independent. A better solution is usually to create another level of hierarchy in your existing *.mm4 portfolio file. So, if you have something like:

Code: Select all
- Master
  - Stuff

create another level, like:

Code: Select all
- New Master
  - Master
    - Stuff
  - New Port Separate from Master

You can do this using the Portfolio Editor. See the sub-portfolio tutorial.
Thanks,
Mark
