Data Location after Upgrade 2018.15.4

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby matteopeo » Sat Oct 20, 2018 12:06 am

Hi Marc,

I have FM installed in a cloud folder and it has been working great for using on my two devices.

However I noticed that after upgrading to the latest version, the default folder for new investments had gone back to the local folder Users/Name/Documents/Fund Manager/Data.

Luckily I spotted it in a double check after upgrade and easily corrected it, but I thought it might be worth reporting it to you for action / warning to others...

Cheers,

Matteo

Hi Matteo,

Thanks for the note. I wasn't able to reproduce this problem. How are you determining the default folder for new investments? Can you reproduce this problem now, just by reinstalling?
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

I guess I spotted what is going on... Actually the default folder for new investments seems to be set as the one from the last of the two devices in use... So not really anything to do with the re-install... Plus, I think FM asks where to save the file once you create it anyway, so not really an issue at all..

The way to determine which one is the default folder was simply to check my Location Data setting (see attached picture after I tried a re-install just now).

The other thing that happens during install is that the setup file creates the Autoback and Samples Folders in a local folder rather than on the Cloud Pathway (see attached picture during install). Not sure if that creates any issue or need your attention.

Hi Matteo,

Yes, the Autoback and Samples folders are always written into your "My Documents \ Fund Manager" folder upon install. It would be nice to have an install option to not write these.
Thanks,
Mark
