Merging Investments

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby JiminPhx » Tue Mar 27, 2018 6:28 am

I followed instructions in YouTube Tutorial and the procedure works, except that my merged investment has wrong mount of shares (#1 2,244 & #2 1,394 merged on ends up with 4,751.5446). It should be 3,638
I tried merging #1 into #2 & #2 into #1 both had the same results.
I think the problem is that both of the investments had a 2 for 1 split a long time ago.
I exported all transactions from #1 & #2 & merged to a .csv file to compare results.
The original #1 says: bought 400 shares @ $13.25
The merged one says: bought 800 shares @ $6.23
I don't know if this is problem, but sure could use some HELP.

Hi Jim,

Make sure you have all the transactions recorded as they happened, and nothing is duplicated. Do you maybe have the 2:1 split recorded twice? You can use "View / Split Adjusted" to help here. You might want to turn it off, and make sure everything is recorded as it happened on the date of the transaction. For example, if you bought 400 shares before the 2:1 split date, you should record it as 400 shares, and not 800.
Thanks,
Mark

There were 2 "2 for 1 split" transactions (1 for each of the investments), so I deleted 1 of the 2.
Now it is OK

Thanks Mark
