Moving portfolio between sub portfolios temporarily

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby nismith » Mon Jan 29, 2018 8:02 am

I find the Portfolio editor window useful for its quick sorting in the sub portfolios against any column and often use it instead of reports. (I do use both)

I have two sub portfolios(A and B) both mine but they have to be kept separate for legal reasons.

Can I create a third 'temp' sub portfolios, C, and temporarily move the holdings in A and B into C and do what analysis I want then move them back to their original sub portfolios without damaging FM or the data?

Hi Nigel,

Yes, you could. For this situation I would probably copy them into C instead of move. You can then close them out of C when you are done. The same investment file can be open in more than 1 sub-portfolio at a time.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

I copied which was quick and easy, did what I wanted then closed them - the temp portfolio with its holdings vanished and I was left with the two original PFs as I wanted.

Thanks
