I was getting subject daily exchange rate data from Yahoo using CADUSD=X . Now that it's gone can anyone tell me of another source and symbol?
Thanks

Hi John A.,

Yahoo still has the quote. Just make sure you have the latest quote module (currently 525), and you should be able to retrieve this symbol from Yahoo.
Thanks,
Mark

I want to get exchange rates CADUSD=X going back to year 2000. However, Yahoo-Historical and its alternatives return nonsensical data prior to 2008 (see attachment). I can't figure out what's going wrong. Has anyone any ideas?

Hi,

This occurs sometimes, the historical data from the quote servers may be corrupted when too "old". In particular when the currency pair is not "standard" (USD/CAD is mostly used, you should get better result downloading the historical prices of this pair and invert it).

But you can import manually the old historical prices for CAD/USD from one of these sources:
- https://www.investing.com/currencies/ca ... rical-data
- https://stooq.com/q/d/?s=cadusd

Thanks. USDCAD=X worked fine, and gave me a sensible graph. But when I checked the "Invert Retrieved Price" using the Investment Properties/Internet Retrieve box, I get back to the nonsense graph again. Go figure. Is there any other way of inverting the data within FM?

I've just tried to retrieve CADUSD=X with YAHOO-HISTORICAL server, it works OK and prices are good (historical up to 19/09/03). And USDCAD=X with "Invert Retrived Price" ticked the prices are OK too.
Perhaps your investment has old prices in it? You should clean (delete) all the existing prices in the investment and then retrieve the historical prices.

I've abandoned Yahoo for Reuters and some Quandl sources to fill in the gaps.
For FX, a free Quandl subscription gives access to direct central bank data sources. You might find that more reliable for long-term historical stuff.
Yahoo's VIX is busted too... must research an alternative.
