General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Can you please tell me where / how to enter and view the maturity / expiration date for fixed income securities,eg, bonds and CD's?
I like to be able to view my bond information including the expiration dates to help me better manage my bond ladder.
Thanks
Scott

Hi Scott,
I'm sorry, Fund Manager doesn't track/report this information.

Hi Mark
Thanks for the quick reply. Please consider adding this bond information to a future release. I suspect most investors using Fund Manager would like to have this additional bond management capability.

Hi Scott,
Okay, thank you for the feedback/idea. Would you like to see this just as a single date you enter with each purchase? Is there any functionality that you'd like seeing associated with this date, or you just want to be able to report/track it?

Reporting and tracking the bond maturity date would be a good start. Of course a more complete solution would include entering additional bond attributes and tracking, eg, coupon rate, yield rate, accured interest at purchase, purchase price, current market price, etc.
I currently resort to using a separate spreadsheet to track my bonds in addition to the basic entries into Fund Manager. This double "accounting" is not a very efficient use of one's time.
Thanks again.

First, thanks again for adding the bond data fields. Hopefully your efforts will be rewarded w/ new users.
I'm finally getting around to updating some of my bond info from version 9. Does version 10 have any way to convert the existing bonds from version 9 to the version 10 format with the new bond properties ? Otherwise looks like I have to re-enter all of the version 9 bond info?
Thanks again

Hi Scott,
Which version 9 bond info are you asking about? Version 9 didn't have any fields for maturity date, coupon rate, etc, so there is nothing to convert from in these cases.

Guess I wasn't very clear.
The bonds I'm referring to were originally created in version 9 and were automatically move into version 10 during the version 10 installation process, ie, i didnt' have to do anything to my portfolio data when i upgraded to version 10.
My current version 10 data continues to have the minimal bond data originally entered into version 9, but when I select properties the new fields added in version 10 are not visible, eg, maturity, yield to maturity, etc.
I was hoping you had a way to add these additional version 10 bond fields to my old bonds that were originally created in version 9. Of course when I create a new bond using version 10 the additional bond fields are available.
The only solution from my vantage point is to re-enter my bond information by creating a new bond for each of the existing ones which is what I'm hoping to avoid.
Thanks again
Scott

Hi Scott,
I understand now, thanks. Yes, you can modify these properties of an existing investment originally created in v9. Right mouse click on the bond, and choose "Investment Properties..." and then click on the "Income" tab. Change the "Style" to "Bond Interest", and then you can edit all the bond related properties.
