Move Sub Portfolios

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

I setup my FM to have one portfolio with multiple sub-portfolios.

Is there a way to move some of the sub portfolios as-is into a new portfolio so I can keep them separate?

Hi oyz79,

You can copy/paste sub-portfolios across portfolio files (*.mm4). But, why would you want to do this? Generally it is best to keep everything in one portfolio file (*.mm4). If you want to report/graph on only one sub-portfolio you can do that. There is usually no need to put it in a separate portfolio file.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi -

I have 2 types of portfolios I work with -hypothetical test portfolios (multiple sub portfolios) and actual invested portfolios (multiple sub portfolios). I want to separate these so I can get a complete snapshot of the actual invested portfolios. Does that make sense? What's the best way to do that?

Hi oyz79,

Yes, that makes sense, but use another level of sub-portfolio to separate these, instead of portfolio files. For example:
Code: Select all
- Master Portfolio
  - My Invested Accounts
    - account 1
    - account 2
  - My Hypothetical Accounts
    - watch list 1
    - hypothetical account 3
Thanks,
Mark
