investment input

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Is there a way how to import a whole list (>200) of investments using the Bloomberg tickers as input? I do not have a ofx or qfx file. Also, I cannot import it from a broker. Would I have to create the investments manually (individually)?

Hi Tintin11,

You can do this with the generic price import. See "File / Import / Prices / Generic...". Create a file in a text editor (like Notepad), that looks like this:

INTC,1
IBM,1

where you have 1 symbol per line, followed by a comma and the number 1, which we will temporarily use as a price. In the generic price import dialog, use the settings:

Specify Date: ON, and the current date (don't use a weekend, we want to override the fake 1 price)
Specify Symbol: OFF
Input Format: SYMB,NAV
Create New Investments as Needed: ON
File to import: <browse to the file you created>

Afterwards, retrieve prices to overwrite all the fake $1 prices created during the import.
Thanks,
Mark
