Linked Sub-Portfolio

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Hi Mark,

I've set up some linked portfolios which work well except that the linked portfolio totals are added to the Master Portfolio Total. I've worked around this by including an extra hierarchal level of sub-portfolio, however, by doing this I've lost the functionality of the menu driven "Graphs/Portfolio value" etc and "Reports/Portfolio Value" etc. Is there a way of using linked sub-portfolios without there totals being included in the Master Portfolio total.

Hi SS,

No. Any sub-portfolio includes everything within that sub-portfolio, whether it is a linked sub-portfolio or not. Your solution of setting up another layer of hierarchy is the right approach. What do you mean by you lost the functionality of those menu commands? You shouldn't lose anything by doing this. You can graph or report on any level of your sub-portfolio hierarchy. When you create a graph window, select the "active" sub-portfolio from the top level "Portfolio" menu, and that is the sub-portfolio that will be graphed. When you create a report, choose the desired sub-portfolio you want to report on. You can report on any sub-portfolio.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Full functionality is still there, I'm not sure what I was doing before.
