Importing from Canadian Discount Brokerage

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby CarolJ » Sat Jan 15, 2011 11:59 am

Hi,

My account is with Scotia itrade in Canada. Scotia itrade used to be owned by the Etrade Canada. I wondered if I can retrieve data from this brokerage account. Also, some of my account data is in an excel file since when I switched account types my old records were given to me in an excel file from the brokerage company. My questions are as follows:

Can I retrieve the data from Scotia itrade - Canada? Or
Can I import data from the Excel file and then manually enter the transactions that have happened more recently? Or
Do I have to go back and enter all historical data?

Thanks,

Carol

Hello Carol,

I do not believe any Canadian broker offers the required OFX server needed to retrieve your transactions. You can definitely ask them, and if they have one, we'll add support for it. You can read more about this here:

You can import from an Excel file. See the "File / Import / Transactions / Generic..." menu command. Press the "Help..." button in this dialog for instructions/examples.
Thanks,
Mark
