Insufficient memory error - Version 10.8

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby fundman247 » Sat Jan 08, 2011 2:22 am

Hi Mark,
I started getting this error insufficient memory error while the pc running on XP Prof has over 1.5GB free RAM memory.
This msg can come up with 5 seconds interval or up to 10 minutes.
I have rebooted and even closed all my other programs but it makes no difference.
What do you suggest I try?

It only started this morning and was fine yesterday. The pc was not rebooted overnight when the problem started.

Regards.

Hello,

What operation are you doing when you get this error message? Are you creating a graph, report, or working in some dialog? Or, does it happen when you are not moving the mouse or typing on the keyboard?
Thanks,
Mark

I am not doing any changes. Merely looking at the graphs and working out the trends or moves that are on the graphs.

At times the msg can be 2 seconds apart and come up 3-5 times and then no msg again while moving about and opening reports and some more investments.

It does seem that the mouse is moving when the msg appers.

Hi fundman247,

Thanks for the information. What graph type are you looking at when this happens? Is it something you can reproduce? If so, can you email me a backup so I can try to reproduce it here?
Thanks,
Mark

My out of memory is not as frequent as fundman or haven't been using it as long.

Mine aas on Performance Price/investment Price/Dist overlay graph.

But can't identify what specific action causes it and so far today has not repeated the error.

Hi Mark,

I have had the same error a few times today.

It is always on Performance Price/investment Price/Dist overlay graph.

I have sent some more e-mail about the problem only seeing the note/trade far from the actual price.

You will see it is sometimes 28 pixels to the left of the price if omit weekend days is ticked. It would also jump past some points that are on a friday even if it is not the end of the date range up to a friday. Very weird. My setting for cursor pixel is 3 but it makes no difference if I set it at 1.

The problem with it so far is that 28 pixels to the left means I could have other notes/trades to the left of it and the cursor would be closer to the previous price with note than the one I'm trying to read.

Included is a video to see the moves of the cursor on my screen.

Regards.
Danie.

Hi Danie,

I've sent you a 10.9 pre-release to fix the cursor issues you reported. There have also been some changes in this graph type. Please let me know if you can still reproduce this memory issue with 10.9. I may need to send a debug version if it is still present.

Hi davephx,

If you would like to try the 10.9 pre-release as well, please send us an email.
Thanks,
Mark

I haven't tried it for about a week but just now just opening it gave me the insufficient memory error before doing anything. However, I think everything works and can just ignore the warning.

I haven't rebooted for a week or so usually don't need to but Task Manager shows for Memory:

Total 6135 MB Total
Cached 1683 MB
Available 1592 MB
Free 165MB

Hi davephx,

Thanks. Could you give the 10.9 pre-release a try, and see if you can still reproduce the problem with that version? I will send you an email with the 10.9 pre-release.
Thanks,
Mark
