Cash account value is wrong

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby Ron Whorton » Wed May 05, 2010 12:48 pm

I have an account at Scottrade with just one stock position and a cash account. I successfully downloaded the information using the New Portfolio Setup Wizard. And I have updated the share price using the Yahoo Internet Retrieve tab. Now, however, the cash account position is wrong and not by a little bit. It should be about $265.00. But it is showing -$150,000. How can I correct this?

Hi Ron,

Check 2 things:

1) Make sure your closing prices for the cash account are all 1. Use the Data Register, and select the "Prices" data type.

2) Look at your recorded transactions. The account value at any point in time is simply the number of shares you own on that date times the closing market price (which should always be 1 for a cash account). You can again use the Data Register, but this time look at the "Investments (all)" data type, and see what transactions you have recorded. If one is wrong, edit it there.
Thanks,
Mark
