OptionsXpress Downloads

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby trader1 » Wed Mar 10, 2010 3:19 pm

Began having problems with OptionsXpress downloads. Whenever I try to download or reconcile my OptionsXpress account, the program appears to log on, recieve information, and then crashes (closes). This does not happen with any other account. I then tried to create a new portfolio for OptionsXpress which had the same result (close Fund Mgr) when the download appeaqred finished. This did not happen with the prior download module, but I do not have a copy of that to reinstall. Any suggestions as to the cause or solution.

Thanks

Hi trader1,

What version of Fund Manager and what quote module are you using? If you aren't already using 10.4 with quote module 137, please update to this, and let me know if it does not fix the problem. If you still get a crash with 10.4, module 137, please email us your 'ofxretr.txt' file in your user's application data\Fund Manager folder. This file contains the raw data retrieved from your broker. We can try importing that here, and see if we can't reproduce the problem. I'll send you an email, so you will have a regular email address to reply to.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi trader1,

Thanks for sending your log file. I am able to reproduce the problem here. It turns out that the CUSIP for some of your options is longer than 19 characters, which was causing a buffer overflow. Unfortunately FM only supports CUSIPs of up to 19 characters long. This is the first time I've ever run into one this long. I wonder if this is normal, or something new... Do you have any idea? They are for these:

SPX MarWk2 1175 Call (JXB^^^100312C01175000)
SPX MarWk2 1200 Call (JXB^^^100312C01200000)

For now, we're going to chop off the CUSIP at 19 characters, and just use that. Hopefully this is a rare occurrence. In your case it won't matter, as there will be 2 chopped off characters, but they will always be "00", so don't change the unique identifying property of the CUSIP. I will email you a pre-release of 10.5 with this fix once it is ready.
Thanks,
Mark
