Is there maximum File size?

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby faidas » Wed Nov 10, 2010 2:36 pm

I have noticed that about 1 month ago the Dow Jones Ind. index values
stopped updating automatically (I use Yahoo).
I can still enter the values manually though.
The data values go back to 1928? and the file size was just over 1MB.
Is there a size limit? or what else could be wrong. Everything else is fine.
Tried to delete some of the oldest dates, did not help.
Also is there any way to delete blocks of data from a file (from date X to date Y), instead of doing manually one by one which is cumbersome?

Thank you

Hi Homer,

The problem is not due to the file size. There is no limit to this. The problem is Yahoo stopped providing this current quote in the used CSV format. You can either switch to using Yahoo (Historical), or another quote server like Bloomberg. There was a discussion on this issue here:

Here is a key excerpt from that topic:

There are workarounds for this problem:

1) Use "Yahoo (Historical)" instead.

2) Use a different quote server, like Bloomberg. The symbol for the Dow Jones on Bloomberg is:

INDU:IND

which is retrieving fine.

To override the default quote server for a specific investment, go to "Investment Properties... / Internet Retrieve".
Thanks,
Mark
