Non-Market Investments

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Not sure if this was addressed elsewhere. If it has already been, please excuse me. I couldn't find it.

Pls. address if the software can handle non-market investments or projects. Of course, the only real pertinent data would be the initial outlay and taxes.

thx,

Hi lmeluso,

Yes, you can pretty much track any investment with Fund Manager. The investment model is generic, so it can be used for almost anything. If your investment does not have a share price, you can just use $1, and set the shares to be equal to the value, just like is done when you track a cash investment. If you periodically want to update the actual value of the investment, you can record a reinvested distribution, again at $1/share, and the number of shares being equal to the change in market value.
Thanks,
Mark
